In order to provide Connecticut Clean Cities Stakeholders with even more value and provide a strategic statewide alternative fuel plan, we are working together with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Clean Cities Headquarters to formalize the statewide collaboration between Connecticut’s Clean Cities Coalitions. Capitol Clean Cities of Connecticut, Connecticut Southwestern Clean Cities, and Greater New Haven Clean Cities have long cooperated on statewide activities like the Connecticut coalitions did for the 2011 $29 million CT Clean Cities Future Fuels project, and we’re excited to use this model to take this to the next level.

Over the years, our coalitions have been a tremendous resource to Connecticut. We look forward to continuing our work with you and request that you join us and demonstrate your commitment and support of Connecticut’s Clean Cities Collaborative.

We’ve created some powerful momentum in CT!

We welcomed the 1st multi-alternative fuels travel center in America to Hartford, CT at the Pride Travel Center.

 

MotorWeek filmed two of our stakeholders’ accomplishments including: USA Hauling & Recycling and the Pride Travel Center. USA Hauling continues to grow its fleet of CNG waste trucks with a solar-powered station, the 1st of its kind.

 

The Clean Cities Collaborative offered the Municipal EV Readiness Toolkit which included a virtual Electric Bus Toolkit webinar.

 

I84 and I91 are alternative fuel corridors that include EV, Propane and CNG, Hydrogen pending.

 

CT Clean Cities worked with bus providers and towns to assist with DEEP’s 12.7 million in VW Settlement funding opportunities process providing input and education. Municipalities awarded: Middletown, New Britain, Hamden, Stamford, Bethel, Ansonia, and Griswold.

 

We started an EV Roadshow partnering with local dealerships visiting several towns to offer public education, vehicle displays, and information on purchasing incentives via CHEAPR. Looking forward to a great 2022!

In 2021, twenty-two municipalities participated in the Municipal EV Readiness Toolkit: 9 Month Program. Clarity sessions were held with municipal EV readiness teams to identify EV goals and projects. Every municipality identified EV zoning regulations as a priority. As a result of that feedback, our Coalition designed the EV Zoning Regulations Blueprint: a step-by-step guide that provides a proven process to implement EV zoning regulations. Whether a municipality wants to add minor regulations, fully implement EV zoning into every aspect of regulations, or something in between, the EV Zoning Regulations Blueprint is a useful guide.

 

For those who would like additional support and resources, we are offering the EV Zoning Regulations Boot Camp, which will serve as an interactive learning community that will provide participants with the opportunity to move through the process of updating zoning regulations together. Clean Cities Collaborative appointed to board overseeing Connecticut’s electric vehicle subsidies.

 

As a means of encouraging the uptake of cars that protect Connecticut’s air and water, the State of Connecticut is subsidizing the purchase or lease of electric vehicles. “CHEAPR” will save you at least $2250 on a new EV – $4250 for low-income buyers! – and $3000 for low-income buyers of used EVs. For more on CHEAPR and the path to a clean vehicle future, go to https://bit.ly/EVConnecticut

 

Sen Martin Looney appointed a CT Clean Cities Collaborative member, Paul Wessel, to the board overseeing the program, including setting the rebate levels and annually evaluating the program.
